Fire Academy

ABOUT THE WILDLAND FIRE ACADEMY

The Colusa County Office of Education in partnership with the Colusa County Fire Association Chiefs, The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), and the Meridian Fire Department introduce:

The Wildland Fire Academy training specifically designed for those seeking a seasonal firefighter job with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE).

Applications for the 2019-20 will be available soon. Orientation for the next academy will be on November 2, 2019 at 3pm. 

Graduates of this Academy also meet the minimum wildland fire training requirements needed to apply for seasonal wildland fire control positions with most other fire agencies in California. 

The Interagency Basic Wildland Firefighter Academy is conducted on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays for 9 to 12 weekends (180 hours). Students are also required to complete substantial self-study and homework assignments each week.
